To His glory

So if what I eat causes another believer to sin, I will never eat meat again as long as I live – for I don’t want to cause another believer to stumble.
–1 Corinthians 8:13
According to Leviticus, clean meat is defined as the meat of every animal that has the hoof cloven in two and chews the cud.  Examples of clean meat include the ox (cattle), buffalosheepgoatdeer, gazelle, antelope and mountain sheep, just to name a few.

According to the Acts of the Apostleschapter 10Saint Peter had a vision of a vessel (Greekσκεῦόςskeuos; “a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners”) full of animals being lowered from heaven (Acts 10:11). A voice from heaven told Peter to kill and eat, but since the vessel (or sheet, ὀθόνη, othonē) contained unclean animals, Peter declined. The command was repeated two more times, along with the voice saying, “What God hath made clean, that call not thou common” (verse 15) and then the vessel was taken back to heaven (verse 16).

At this point in the narrative, messengers sent from Cornelius the Centurion arrive and urge Peter to go with them. He does so, and mentions the vision as he speaks to Cornelius, saying “God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean” (Acts 10:28). Peter related the vision again in Acts 11:4-9.

Shall we judge?

There is The Way!

If our acts shall cause one to sin, be wary. I am led to think of vegans, if one is a Christian, respect their beliefs, better to go without than to go ‘with’ and cause one to sin.

Are we examples?

On forms where “Belief/Practice/Religion” is asked, what do we write or check? Agnostic, Christian, Muslim, Hindu…?

There are options, SO many! We live by example, show it! Jesus stepped way down and came not as Who He was, but to serve! Can we state the same?

Christian – Christ-like, we are set apart!

Chosen before time!Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In Love He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will— to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the One He Loves. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that He lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, He made known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, which He purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in Heaven and on Earth under Christ.
