Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed.
“Deliver us from evil..” Remember that? The Lord’s prayer. So many times I have heard “Deliver us from evil! What is evil to be delivered from? Must be a ‘mistake’ in the translation.”
Brethren, Jesus IS The Word made flesh! Jesus knew it, lived it, WAS it, Amen
Christian – Like Christ…let us get into The Word.
“The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of The One and only Son, who came from God, full of grace and truth.”
Through the Word of Jesus, the Earth and man were made. So, He is the Word.” When we read, “In the beginning was the Word” in John’s Gospel, we should immediately think of another Bible text that begins with the same introductory phrase. Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth.”
Word ‘use’ is important and influences our understanding:
John 1:1 is the first verse in the opening chapter of the Gospel of John. In the Douay–Rheims, King James, New International, and other versions of the Bible, the verse reads: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
This sheds a light on many questions: Jesus is The Word, The Word is God.
God is in no way physical! God may appear in the physical. There are so many examples; we have shared the account of Moses seeing “the Glory of God pass him.”
“Then Moses said, “Now, please show me your glory [Chis manifest presence].”
The Lord answered, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will announce my name, the Lord, so you can hear it. I will show ·kindness [favor] to anyone to whom I want to show ·kindness [favor], and I will show ·mercy [compassion] to anyone to whom I want to show ·mercy [compassion]. But you cannot see my face, because no one can see me and live.
This may bring us to contemplate, “If and when God ‘appeared’ to Adam and Eve (Adam first, hence the description of God in the masculine sense earlier in the sharing.) How or What did He appear as? We are mistaken to think God was as “Man”. They sensed His presence which would have filled the Earth. They would have been awed by God’s precense and hid. We mistake this for ‘walking’
“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as He was walking (present)in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from The Lord God among the trees of the garden.
But The Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
Many things we might have missed. Let us jump far forward; on his way to Damascus to arrest “believers”, Paul had an experience where he spoke with Jesus.
“Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”
And he said, “Who are You, Lord?”
Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.”
So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?”
Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
And the men who journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice but seeing no one. Then Saul arose from the ground, and when his eyes were opened he saw no one. But they led him by the hand and brought Saul into Damascus. And Saul was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank (A fast? We can see all that occured, a fast was well known in the Jewish community, meeting with Saul’s experience, it is very understandable!).”
Here, the people that were traveling with Paul to Damascus heard, but did not see. Again, sound from nowhere. Seen or experience from nothing. The Word.
But if it’s from Him, you will know when the time is right. God cares about us, every aspect of our lives, even our sleep. He talks to us through His word -The Holy Bible, through our dreams, through other people, almost anything.
I must ask “Has God ever spoken to you through a dream?”
Have you ever felt ‘led’ inexplicably so? So much is unclear
“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”
1 Corinthians 13:12
From this verse so much teaching, Amen
A short step away; We are fully known! God sees all, God knows all. As believers we have guardian angels who present to The Father of all. There are periods of presentation as in the book of Job: Job 1:6 says
“One day the angels came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan
also came with them.”
“Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they were saying:
“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”
Being that we were meant to be for always here on Earth, in God’s image we were created and we shall, we are here for a brief period in our existence.
While the Scriptures give no definite figures, we are told that the number of angels is very great (Daniel 7:10; Matthew 26:53; Hebrews 12:22).
It appears that all angels were created before creation of the Earth. No new angels are being added to the number. Angels are not subject to death or any form of extinction; therefore they do not decrease in number.
It seems reasonable to conclude that there are at least as many spirit beings in existence as there will have been human beings in all their history on Earth.
One of my favorite verses:
“And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
2 Kings 6:17 (NIV)
The Heavenly host are innumerable!
The Bible is one! We have One God, One Creator, One from Whom has sent us all for a reason!
