“‘Son’ of God”

I have often observed the image of Jesus. So many times I have gazed upon it in wonder!

So, Jesus stepped way down from a position of glory; not to be a king, noble man, warrior… but a stepSon of a carpenter.

So many things are evident:

1. IF royalty; hard to miss or disobey! You would be ‘breaking the law.’

2. Not even a ‘prophet’ as had been in times past. We could get embroiled in this fact! Briefly, I will share the story of Joseph. A ‘dreamer’! What would be was known by God Who knows ALL. The perplexing thing is if we study it profoundly.

Omniscient?

om·nis·cient
/ämˈnisēənt, ämˈniSHənt/

adjective
  1. Knowing everything.
“The story is told by an omniscient narrator”

An example?
Joseph, son of Jacob and Rachel, lived in the land of Canaan with ten half-brothers, one full brother, and at least one half-sister. He was Rachel’s firstborn and Jacob’s eleventh son. Of all the sons, Joseph was preferred by his father, and this is represented by a “long coat of many colors“. When Joseph was seventeen years old he had two dreams that made his brothers plot his demise. In the first dream, Joseph and his brothers gathered bundles of grain, of which those his brothers gathered, bowed to his own. In the second dream, the sun (father), the moon (mother), and eleven stars (brothers) bowed to Joseph himself. These dreams, implying his supremacy, angered his brothers. (Genesis 37:1-11)

What is known is Known. What seems an ‘eternity’ to us is a moment in The EYES of God. To see the end from the beginning? Yawn! But, we are Created with choice. So many pressing engagements relationships, school, job…pressing demands! Choices!

We have shared numerous times: “Why are you?” You have a reason, a purpose! Have you discovered, found it yet? Or has it been revealed to you?

As we read above the end “purpose” for Joseph’s existence was shown; decades before it came to be.

After Pharoah’s butler recalled the interpretation of his dream by Joseph. He informed the Pharaoh who sent for Joseph. By now, Joseph was thirty years old. We shared the time he had the dreams. Do the math. What appears to us to be ‘ages’ is a ‘blink’ in The ALL MIGHTY precense of God!

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with The Lord as a thousand years with Man, and a thousand years as one day.” 2 Peter 3:8

Joseph listened to the

Pharoah’s dream and told the ruler that the dream predicted seven years of feast that would be followed by seven years of famine.

Again, we could get ’embroiled’ in this but, the fact is that it was revealed in a dream ages before! If we knew what we would experience, would we truly go through with it? Many are nodding “yes!” That is not factual. If Joseph had seen that he would be killed by his brothers; would he have opened his mouth to share the dreams? If he knew that Portiphar’s wife would attempt to be with him in disrespect of the man who placed him at the head of his house, think about this. He was sold to traders by his half brothers!

Many would say “he could have escaped and run away!” To where?

The impressive fact is that no matter where he was; he remained true in effort and accomplishments. The placed him in charge in the dungeon!

There are so many lesson’s to grasp in this. But, we will move on.

What was to be and how it was to occur wasn’t revealed in Joseph’s dreams. But his faith and obedience to The ALL MIGHTY kept him grounded! Sold into slavery, false accusations, prison! He remained true to what God created him for. Mind you; the Isrealites arrival in the land of Egypt was because of Joseph!

Their ‘escape’ from Egypt led by Moses was known even before the time. Think! Moses being born and not handed over to be killed was known by God. The very fact that he would end up in Pharoahs palace was Known!

We mentioned earlier that it is not the qualified who are called! But the called who are qualified. Think on this, this is not a brief statement to read and pass by! Think, reflect and know why you are where you are.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart…” Jeremiah 1:5

You have a purpose/reason; I do not need to say “Amen”! You are here for a reason!

Omniscient:
The key biblical terms for knowledge assume a personal familiarity, even an intimate involvement, with the known object. Similarly, knowing God entails acknowledging him as Lord in obedience and praise. As a result, human knowledge of God is decisively shaped by the fall and God’s salvation.

Adam and Eve knew God. They acknowledged Him as their Lord and obediently carried out their responsibilities as His stewards in creation. However, eating from the forbidden tree of the knowledge of good and evil decisively shaped humanity’s future ( Genesis 2:9 Genesis 2:17 ). The knowledge derived from eating this fruit is called godlike ( Genesis 3:5 Genesis 3:22 ),denoting a rebellious attempt to decide good and evil independently of the Creator.

They hid from God when they felt His Presence! They knew His Word! Do you? Once in life, I was too busy to know, practice or memorize The Word! Too busy! I’d say/think/act. In being involved in what has been defined by witnesses as “near fatal”; means I was at the ‘edge’ of something! I admit I was given a glance and asked what I wished.

Thinking it was a ‘dream’ much like Joseph’s actual dream above; in my dream I said I wished to ‘wake up’. I was allowed to; on a condition though – to share what I experienced.

In past times, I have ‘attempted’ to do this. I thought I was too ‘busy’! I did it on the bus to and from work. I learned fast that a mission is a mission. M6 business was taken away and I was given time to focus on The reason, I was allowed back.

I have more desire to share and by God’s awesome grace, I will do that.

Back to discussing His-story:

The fall, however, did not destroy the availability of God’s knowledge to Man.

General revelation, God’s universal revelation, still exists. However, Scripture treats general revelation as ineffective in guiding humanity to God. Just as “the ox knows his master” ( Isa 1:3 ), humanity ought to recognize the Creator, but does not. Sin is the obstacle. Nothing in general revelation hints that God is gracious to the sinner. The sinner distorts the realities of general revelation, fabricating a suitable idea of God ( Rom 8:7-8 ; Php 3:19 ). This failure to know God issues in all other sin. Consequently, Scripture indicts humans who do not know the one and only God as morally perverse ( Isa 1:2-4 ; Hosea 4:1-2 ),rebellious sinners ( 1Sam 2:12 ; Jer 2:8 ),apostates ( Jer9:1-6 ; Hosea 4:6),idolaters ( Psalm 79:6 ; Hosea 2:13 ), and deceivers engrossed in an delusion ( John 1:5 John 1:10 ; 1 Col 1:18-2:16 ).After explicating these dynamics in Romans 1:18-2:1, Paul concludes that after the fall, general revelation only renders sinners inexcusable before God.

After the fall, saving knowledge of God is grounded solely in God’s decision to reveal himself to sinners ( Gen 18:18-19 ;Exod 33:17 ; Ps. 139 Jer 1:5 ; Eph 3:35 ). In these Acts of special revelation, God chooses a people for his purposes and guides them back to himself ( Amos 3:2 ).For sinners can come into fellowship with God only through God’s prior act, which objeceed to Him.

Seeking God is dependent on the proper perspective. God has revealed himself through his prior Acts, and this revelation forms the proper historical context for understanding God in the present ( Deut 4:29-39 ; 1 Chron 16:11-12 ).Consequently, knowledge of God frequently depends on the witness of others to whom God has revealed himself ( Psalm44:1-4 ; Isa51:1-2 ). Only those who know God may seek him. In the New Testament, for example, the first step toward knowledge consists of receiving Jesus’ message ( John 7:16-17 ; 12:37-46 ; 20:30-31 ). Only those willing to believe that Jesus is doing the will of the Father receive the light enabling them to discern that he is the Son of God. On this path, followers are led to the full truth. Sinners, on the other hand, come to a knowledge of God through judgment and repentance. In repentance one recognizes the holy God who demands righteousness: the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom ( Psalm 25:14 ;111:10 ; Prov 1:7 ; 2:5 ; 9:10 ).

Unlike other types of knowing, God engages and draws us to himself ( John 6:44 ). When we surrender to him and acknowledge him as Lord, God “shows us the way we should go” ( Psalm143:8 ; John 14:6 ).The biblical terms associated with knowing God, like trusting, acknowledging, and believing in God as Lord ( 1 Chron 28:9 ; Psalm 36:10 ; 79:6 ; Isa 43:10 ;Hosea 6:3 ), have a covenantal context. As a result, knowledge of God involves not simply propositions about God, but encountering and embracing God as Lord ( Psalms 25:4 Psalms 25:12 ; 119:104 ), so that God becomes the center of our desires, affections, and knowledge.

Paul reinforces these connections by linking the love, knowledge, and glory of Jesus Christ: Christians know this love, are established in love ( Eph 3:16-19 ),and perceive the glory of God in his face ( 2 Cor 4:6 ). Knowing Christ is a living relationship ( John 7:29 ; 10:14 ; 11:25 ) in which he abides in and transforms the believer into his life ( John 14:17 ; 17:3 ; 1 John 3:2 ).

If knowledge of God is the “path of our life, ” this must manifest itself in godly relationships to others ( Matt 7:17-20; John 10:27 ; 1 Cor 12:31-13:2 ; Php 4:9 ; Col 1:23 ). “We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands” ( 1 John 2:3 ). Those who know God willingly practice his will and thus manifest his character by defending the cause of the poor ( Jer22:16 ; Hosea 6:6 ).In addition, the one following God’s path becomes a co-worker for God’s kingdom ( Isa 43:10-12 ).

Reflecting the messianic promise of knowledge ( Jer 24:7 ;31:33-34 ),there is a finality to the Christian’s knowledge of God ( Matt 11:27 ; Rom 16:25-27 ; Eph 1:9-10 ; Col 1:26-28 ). In Christ “are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” ( Col 2:3 ). Moreover, in contrast to ordinary historical knowledge, this knowledge of God is self-authenticating. God himself personally confronts each individual in the Word ( 2 Cor 4:6 ; 1 John 2:27),foreshadowing the future when teaching is no longer necessary ( Jer 31:34 ).

On the other hand, the believer’s knowledge of God in Jesus Christ is only provisional. It is sufficient for recognizing and trusting the object of faith ( John 17:3 ; Rom 10:9 ): “I know my sheep and my sheep know me… My sheep listen to my voice” ( John 10:14 John 10:27 ).Without answering all our questions, it provides an adequate light for the journeyer in this darkened world ( 2Peter 1:19 ). But this knowledge is only a foretaste of knowing God “face to face” in the hereafter ( 1 Cor 13:12 ), when”the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts” ( 2 Peter 1:19 ).

Amazingly, I have been ‘struck’ by the very presence of a portion of God on Earth! Many depictions are created. I have questions:

1. Did Jesus shave?

2. Did He have relationships? This sounds foolish! He made The Universe! I refer you to:

A very quick stick of straw in the bonfire of sharing. John 1:1 –

Where does this originate?
In the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth. And the Earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

“For He spoke, and it came to be;

He commanded, and it stood firm.”

Psalm 33:9

A realization, As The Word of God Created all! The Word! Isn’t Jesus The Word?

Man sinned as discussed above. God spoke at the beginning of the existance of man in His image! Think about this.

Man stepped away, God’s Word created all even before the exexistence of Man. I will state again; God Spoke (God’s Word! Who/What is God’s Word?) God’s Word converted His-story.

Romans 10:9-10

Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

John 14:6

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

John 3:16

“For God soLoved Loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:36

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

Ephesians 2:8-9

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

John 3:3

Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the Kingdom of God.”

Titus 3:5-6

He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

John 6:28-29

Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Matthew 19:16-26

And behold, a man came up to him, saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?” And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.” He said to him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother, and, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.” The young man said to him, “All these I have kept. What do I still lack?”

Acts 2:38

And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 5:8

But God shows His Love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Revelation 3:20

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with Me.

Isaiah 53:11

Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities.

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.

Ephesians 1:7

By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken he was commended as having pleased God. And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Hebrews 11:5-6

So, to reiterate:

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:6

Different religions have different viewpoints on Jesus:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religious_perspectives_on_Jesus

To not speak as one ignorant; every religion has its key. In the Jewish religion it was to them Jesus appeard; it was known by God. Jesus could have been born anywhere.

Why was Jesus born in Bethlehem when his parents, Mary and Joseph, lived in Nazareth(Luke 2:39)?

The primary reason the birth of Jesus took place in Bethlehem was to fulfill the prophecy given by the minor prophet Micah. He stated, “And you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, you being least among the thousands of Judah, out of you He (Jesus) shall come forth (be born) to Me, that is to become Ruler in Israel . . .” (Micah 5:2, HBFV throughout).

One of the most fascinating facts about the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem is how God used the powerful but sometimes brutal Roman Empire, coupled with a Jewish fixation on their ancesters, to fulfill a 700-year-old prophecy!

We have shared a ‘parcel’. We have touched on some ‘events’ from Genesis to Revs. A summary would be inappropriately awesome, no?

For me, it would:

We shall continue to share; stay tuned.

But before we take a break, let us for a ‘quick’ minute speak with our Creator.

Father LORD it the name of Jesus approach Your throne on bended knee, blinded by the BRIGHTNESS of Your Essence, Amen.

We are not we are not worthy to be before Thee, our sin makes us unworthy. Father maywe ask that in The name of Jesus, we be washed in the never ending stream of blood that flowed from Him as He bore our sin, Amen

we have been adopted into The family, rooted in Christ Jesus, your Son. Through Him You Father demonstrate that a part of you could live as us in a ‘challenge’ that was wagered before Your Throne. Father, You are omniscient, omnipresent and see all, are in all, Amen

You have sent Your spirit to dwell within our spirit; guiding, lifting and directing us. Your Word is within us; Father we ask for a hunger, a need, a desire to consume Your Word. Fill us with Your perfection we pray still on bended knee as we are soaked beyond comprehension we pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, andthe life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

John 14:6

Jesus, being in very nature God,

did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;

rather, He made Himself nothing

by taking the very nature of a servant,

being made in human likeness.

And being found in appearance as a Man,

He humbled Himself

by becoming obedient to death—

even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place

and gave Him The Name that is above every name,

that at The name of Jesus every knee should bow,

in Heaven and on Earth and under the Earth,

and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,

to the glory of God the Father, Amen.
