David hurls a stone from his sling and hits Goliath in the center of his forehead, Goliath falls on his face to the ground, and David cuts off his head. The Philistines flee and are pursued by the Israelites “as far as Gath and the gates of Ekron”.
🤔 Makes you think! A shepherd, had never been to battle. A warrior that put fear in other fighters? His brothers were more suited to the battlefield than David.
Jesse had eightsons, naming the first three as Eliab, Abinadab and Shammah, and David as the youngest. The Book of Chronicles names seven sons of Jesse—Eliab, Abinadab, Shimea, Nethanel, Raddai, Ozem and David—as well as two daughters, Zeruiah and Abigail.
Samuel was instructed at the spiritual fall of Saul and he was moved in his heart to stop mourning for Saul in the spirit. God Knows all, Amen.
Sending for the sons of Jesse, when they arrived, Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely The Lord’s anointed stands here before The Lord.”
But The Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not Look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but The Lord looks at the heart.”
I am led to ask where your heart is? We can lie to people and show them what they want and/or need to see! God Looks within, Amen.
Then Jesse called Abinadab and had him pass in front of Samuel. But Samuel said, “The Lord has not chosen this one either.”
I am led to share; waiting on The LORD is key! At times we rush to attain what has been promised;.
Jesse then had Shammah pass by, but Samuel said, “Nor has the Lord chosen this one.” Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, “The Lord has not chosen these.”
Hmm🤔 he felt in his Spirit, “Did I not hear correctly?”
I am led to share:
“Test all things; hold fast what is good.” 1 Thessalonians 5:21
We are getting a bit 1 Thessalonians 5 heavy here! Jus’ sayin’ 🤔
For The Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
How do you test all things? Yes, you are led… “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances (really?); for this is The Will of God in Christ Jesus for you, Amen.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
So Samuel asked Jesse, “Are these all the sons you have?” 🤔
“There is still the youngest,” Jesse answered. “He is tending the sheep.”
Samuel said, “Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives.”
1 Samuel 16
Yet, the slightest was chosen as the greatest. God Knows the heart! There was a path mapped out with trials, tribulations and tests! God Knew The story, what God was prepping David for, glory be to God in The Highest, Amen.
Matthew begins by calling Jesus the son of David, indicating his royal origin, and also son of Abraham, indicating that he was an Israelite; both are stock phrases, in which son means descendant, calling to mind the promises God made to David and to Abraham.
Our story is written; we have a choice to make; find out when and where we are sent and GO!
