And The LORD God formed Man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Man’s body was formed from the dust, and to dust that body must someday return. But his spirit will live on, whether in a happy state or in a ruined one. God Who gave us life holds our lives every moment in His hands IF we so desire. Considering how frail Man is and how little control Man has over so much that befalls him, it is a great wonder that most of Man walk in such pride and with little thought of God from day to day.
And we pray:
Lord, it is good on the one hand to be reminded that we are but dust; but let us also not forget that we are created in Your image and that You are The “Father of all” (Hebrews 12:9). You breathed into Adam’s well formed but lifeless body and filled him and animated him with a living soul. You understand all the ailments of our souls, for you have made them, and we rely on You for the health of both body and soul, Amen.
