Nigerian brothers and sisters, remember “punishment”? “Raise your hands and close your eyes!”
“Yiyara iyara, ṣe tabi iwọ yoo wa ninu wahala.”
“ṣe o fẹ ki n lu ọ?”
Actually, that just came back to me…forgive my Yor-English.
But most key is not under punishment we truly close our eyes and raise our hands!
We do it to give thanks and praise in subjection to our Father in Heaven!

And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the Lord with their faces to the ground.
When people raise their hands during worship at church, whether they know it or not, they are admitting that they are weak and without any power aside fromthe power they receive through the Holy Spirit. They’re praising God by physically and publicly demonstrating to Him that they need Him.
