We all experience this worldwide epidemic! The virus – Corona! In there anyone ‘left alone’? Stars, Hollywood, Political figures, even beggars in the street… are ALL equal! Rumors of cures, prevention, test kits, spam robo-calls…the whole nine! A quick buck ninety if you think of it! But…
A question to be meditated on. IF you die penniless, does it truly matter? A global recession looms ahead. What is the benefit to those who make Billions here on Earth if this is the only place you can spend it?
I will be pointed and remind you of the king David’s, Solomon’s, even of the rulers in this day and age…
Who is this? Where is he? I place this here for ‘homework’!
Let us focus: What a probing and timeless question Christ puts to the people of First-Century Palestine and to men of every age! The whole world is busied in seeking to gain the things of this life. But Jesus asks what good it would do even if you succeeded at gaining it all, if in the end and for all eternity, you lost your own soul.
And we can pray:
How foolish I am, O LORD, if I spend my life in pursuit of things I cannot keep. It is to chase the wind. It is vanity and vexation of spirit, as Solomon put it so often in the Book of Ecclesiastes. May I pursue the true treasures, LORD, knowing that my labor in You is not in vain and that if I who loses my life for Your sake I shall find it – Existence bathed in Your glory for always. Mold me, touch me, bless me with Your gifts – patience, long suffering, a giving heart LORD. As I build my blessings with you in always where rust does not corrupt or moths destroy; raise me up LORD, Amen.
