Now to Him that is of POWER to stablish you according to The gospel, and The preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began. But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the EVER-lasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen. Romans 16:25-27
Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection were a mystery to the people, but through The Word of God and the word of the apostles, the early church could see the evidence that the prophecies had been fulfilled. Before Jesus was born in a manger, the prophets knew He would come. Before Jesus died on the cross, the prophets proclaimed His victory. We have faith in this mystery, which is guiding our lives and obedience.
And we pray:
Dear God, You are a great mystery, yet we place our faith in You. We believe in Your Son’s death and resurrection and it fills us with eternal hope. While we cannot comprehend Your mysteries, we have heard and seen Your prophecies fulfilled. When I doubt, help me to return to Your Word. O Lord, You are overwhelming and I am captivated by You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
