Grace is “the Love and mercy given to us by God because God desires us to have it, not necessarily because of anything we have done to earn it”. It is not a Created substance of any kind.

Paul ends his letter to the Philippians with this benediction. He prays for the grace of Jesus Christ to be with their spirits. Grace is defined as “divine help or strength … given through the mercy and love of God” This means that what Paul is praying for them is the continual help and strength of Jesus Christ. This would include to the power of Christ to overcome sin. Paul knows that these people, whom he loved, would need the strength of Christ to sustain them.

And we pray:

Lord, I thank You for Your grace. It gives me strength to accomplish any task I attempt, led by Your Spirit, Hallelujah! You mercy assures me that I am Loved and I pray for Your grace to keep me strong. Amen.
