Selfishness and pride are evils that have destroyed so many institutions, and this verse implores anyone not to engage in any corrupt speech. The words are especially damaging if they come from a place of religious or governmental authority. Listen carefully and make the judgments yourself led by TheSpirit – be careful not to place blame; power is like a drug as we see in the reign of the most blessed individual of all time. A humble speech is one that is generally positive in the sight of God.

Dear Lord, deliver me from evil in all forms. Help me to use my tongue humbly rather than for my selfish desires. I shall model my speech after the most humble speaker of all, Jesus Christ, who taught us of Your holy Word, God. Thine is The Kingdom, and The POWER, and The glory forever. Amen.
