As a child, there was nothing more comforting than waking from a bad dream to our parent’s soothing voice saying, “I’m here. Don’t be scared.” In our parent’s arms, there was safety. There was help. God promises to hold us in His hand. We are not to fear because He is close at hand. When the nightmares of life threaten to take over, He is there. He wraps us in His Loving arms and assures us that all will be well. “I am here,” He says. “Do not fear.”
And we pray:
Father, You are God – my hiding place. You make me know and feel safety – always, Amen. When I am afraid, I will cling to You and remember Your Words. Keep me in Your strong right hand and protect me from nightmares and the evil of and in this world. Help me when I falter. Lift me up when I fall. Amen.
