We each have a duty as members of the body of Christ.

The Holy Spirit is in each and every believer as Jesus said/says:

To exhort another believer is to encourage them in the truth and to correct them in love. If we don’t love our brothers and sisters in Christ well enough to correct and encourage them in truth, then they may sin so long that their hearts become hardened. They may stop caring about the sin they are committing, and they may continue to sin without thought. Let’s be courageous enough to exhort our fellow believers.

Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is The Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” Being led by The Spirit we are directed what to do, say, be. To The glory of God.

And we pray:

Heavenly Father, please give me the grace to accept correction when others exhort me. Help me to be grateful for it and to listen to their exhortation. Give me courage and grace to exhort others well. Let me only ever do it in love and not for selfish gain. You soften hearts and reveal the evil in us. Give us eyes to see our sin, and hearts to turn from our wicked ways. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
