Israel in Isaiah’s day had a form of relgiosity and honored Jehovah God with their lips, but the hearts of most of the people were far from Him. To merely follow outward rituals, sings hymns and songs, attend church services, and profess to follow the Lord falls short of the mark. We must learn by his grace to truly obey God from the heart. We must cultivate a concern for others’ welfare, especially the poor and downtrodden.
And we pray:
O God, You see through hypocrisy, however well disguised for You know our hearts and minds even better than we know them ourselves. O Searcher my heart LORD, renew a right spirit within me. Search me today with The light of Your Word to see if there be any wicked way in me. Purge me from every sin and set me free to serve You in sincerity and truth. Amen.
