Definition of sin. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/sin
Sin is “a word, deed, or desire in opposition to the eternal law of God,” or as scripture states, “sin is the transgression of the law.”
Scripture clearly indicates that God does view sin differently and that He proscribed a different punishment for sin depending upon its severity. While God does see sin differently we now have Jesus to forgive us of our sin.

Most will admit that all are sinners, that no one is perfect. But the problem that often arises in sharing this news is that many men do not see it as a great problem that they are sinners. But as our sins, Paul tells us, merit the “wages” of death. Death is defined as cessation of a cardiac rythm and cessation of life. BIG question; What next? What occurs after death? Decomposition begins several minutes after death with a process called autolysis, or self-digestion. Soon after the heart stops beating, cells become deprived of oxygen, and their acidity increases as the toxic by-products of chemical reactions begin to accumulate inside them.
Big question, Who, what are you? Memories and experiences; where do they go? We are created in The Image of God. Has anyone seen God? The Spirit of God? Yes! At Jesus’ baptism by John the Baptist people there observed a dove alight upon Jesus. Did it disappear? Fly off?
As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water. At that moment Heaven was opened, and He saw The Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on Him. Matthew 3:16
In answer to the question: You are who God says you are! Psalm 139:14.

we see that sin is much more serious than most realize.

Lord God, our sins have made a breach between us and You, a gulf or chasm that is too vast for any man to build a bridge across. But Your grace, through the blood of The Redeemer, has made a way for us. Teach us to hate our sin more and Love You more with each passing day. Amen.
