Sometimes you will hear old timers in the Southern US, say something like, “Walmart has sales a-coming and a-going.” It’s an odd turn of phrase, but it means “all over the place,” or in this case, “all over the store.” It is an all-encompassing phrase that means “everything.” In this verse, we are told that God will guard us in our going out and coming in. In other words, He guards us “a-coming and a-going”: everywhere, in everything. We are assured in the scripture that God looks out for us ALWAYS, in EVERY circumstance. No matter where we are or what we are doing, we can know that God, our supreme Guardian, keeps us under His watchful eye.

Father, thank You for watching over me in all I do. I can walk in confidence knowing that You always have Your eye on me, keeping me safe and ensuring my good success. Amen.
