We all know what it means to “get our hopes up.” Usually it is a precursor to being disappointed. When we are children we hope for a new puppy or a pony for Christmas. But in Christmas morning, no puppy or pony to be found. As adults, we “hope” for relationships, scholarships, jobs…but sometimes find ourselves disappointed when the relationship fails, the scholarship falls through, or the job goes to someone else. When we put our hope in earthly things, we are bound to be let down. But the hope we find in God will never disappoint. It is not bound by earthly perimeters, but is founded in the love of God which He has poured into our hearts. His Holy Spirit bears witness to this hope. Our hope lives eternally in our hearts through the loving Spirit of a loving God.
And we pray:
Father, I place my hope in You alone. You have been faithful to me. You Love me. You have placed your Holy Spirit in my heart to remind me. I know that through my suffering, I can find a hope that will never let me down. You have promised in Your Word and I choose to believe Your Word. Thank You for always being there for me. I Love You, Lord. Amen.
