The word in the Greek can be translated as “Prince,” “Captain” or “Pioneer.” Jesus is The first cause of our faith. He blazed the trail of faith, showing us what it means to trust our Heavenly Father with our whole lives. The author also calls him The perfecter of our faith.
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses seen and unseen, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us short though it be that leads into eternity. Looking unto Jesus The Author and Finisher of our faith; Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of The Throne of God. For consider Him that endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself, lest ye be tired and faint in your minds. Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. Hebrews 12:1-4
And we pray:
Lord Jesus, You have gone before us, Hallelujah!!! For me, You layed it all down and died for me, taking my shame, pain and punishment. Feeling me to sit with You at The table in Heaven. NO greater joy! Hallelujah!!! Guide me, Amen. Father, Your will be done in my life, Amen.
