Love your neighbor as yourself.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 There is a time and place for everything, and having the emotional intelligence to understand when and how to act is important. As Christians, we are called to love our neighbors, and increasing your emotional intelligence is just another way of saying that you’re trying to understand yourself and others better. This understanding can lead to a kinder and more loving life. As you are of God…

Empathy is an important and learned attribute, one that nobody displayed more than Jesus Christ. Observe the people around you and be in touch with their emotions so that you know when and how to act at the appropriate times.

And we pray:

All-knowing God, give me the vision to understand the audiences and settings that I am in, so that I may behave appropriately. Help me to empathize and understand the feelings of others, so that I can assist those that need it. I ask that You compel me to help other people more than before, for I have kept quiet too often when I should have spoken up. Let me use this new courage only for good, and please prevent me from ever causing harm. I pledge this in service to You, O Lord. Amen.
