This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine. This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine. This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine. Let it shine. Let it shine. Let it shine. This popular children’s song tells the story of this verse. Christ has commissioned us to be the “light of the world” to shine in a dark place, so that we can tell the world of the glory of Christ. We are not mentioned to cover that light–to be “undercover Christians.” Our lights are meant to shine. If we cover the light, then the darkness prevails. We are meant to shine brightly to drive out the darkness.
And we pray:
Lord, Help me be light that shines brightly in the darkest places. Don’t let me cover my light out of fear or intimidation or shyness. Let it shine so that all may see the work You have done in my life. Amen.
