He was also the progenitor of the Israelite Tribe of Benjamin.

Unlike Rachel’s first son, Joseph, Benjamin was born in Canaan according to biblical narrative. The tribes of Israel are from the children of Jacob.

Dinah, also spelled Dina, in the Old Testament (Genesis 30:21; 34; 46:15), daughter of Jacob by Leah; Dinah was abducted and raped near the city of Shechem, by Shechem, son of Hamor the Hivite (the Hivites were a Canaanitish people).

What is special about the Tribe of Benjamin?

They were known for their courage, which is reflected in the blessing of Jacob (Genesis 49,27); despite being the smallest of all tribes, they played a vital role in the history of Israel, especially during the reign of Saul, who descended from the Tribe of Benjamin.

The Davidic line or House of David (Hebrew: בית דוד, romanizedBeit David) refers to the lineage of the Israelite king David through texts in the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament, and through the succeeding centuries. In Judaism and Christianity, it is the bloodline from which the Hebrew Messiah has a patrilineal descent. The Christian gospels claim that Jesus descends from the Davidic line and is therefore the legitimate Hebrew Messiah. The New Testament books of Matthew and Luke give two different accounts of the genealogy of Jesus that trace back to David.

Ascribe to God’s glory and remain i. His perfect will. Amen. To ascribe glory means to give Him what He alone deserves. We don’t add a measure to His glory, but we reflect back to Him the glory that He inherently has. We can see from a brief look back things are as meant and made to be. When we walk according to The will of God; we flourish spiritually.

Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; To shew that the Lord is upright: God is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

6 Ways to Flourish Spiritually

1. Walk with God Daily

He hath shown thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” Micah 6:8

The first and best way any young woman can choose to flourish spiritually, is by walking with God every day. What does it mean to “walk with God”?

Walking with God is…

  • Reading and meditating on God’s Word every day.
  • Praying and talking to Lord (don’t forget to ask Him to work in your heart!).
  • Allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you through God’s Word (the Bible).
  • Confessing and forsaking any sins to the Lord.
  • Obeying the commands you find in God’s Word.

When we take the time to walk with God daily, He will work in our hearts. God’s Word is a powerful book that can change our hearts and lives and mold us into the image of Christ. Prayer is the key to winning our spiritual battles, and the Holy Spirit will speak to us as we read and meditate on the Word of God.

However, to truly flourish spiritually, we can’t just walk with God when we feel like it. We must make the choice to set aside time for the Lord and walk with Him every day. As we make this daily choice, we will begin to flourish spiritually.

2. Forsake any Sin in Your Life

Make me to hear joy and and gladness… Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart O God: and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalm 51:8-10

Joy comes the heart that is cleansed from sin. In order to flourish spiritually, we need to ask the Lord to search our hearts and then confess and forsake the sins that He brings to our attention. When we confess and forsake sin, it’s as if a huge burden is lifted from our shoulders. We feel free and at peace with God again. This is a wonderful experience. No sin is worth the lack of joy we feel when it resides in our heart and life.

Confess and forsake sin and you will be forgiven (1 John 1:9) and you will experience the joy of the Lord once again.

A heart and life that is free from sin can truly flourish.

3. Trust in the Lord

Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green: and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8

To flourish spiritually, we must choose to trust the Lord – with everything. We all experience fears and anxieties. But what we choose to do with them is what makes all the difference. When we learn to take those fears and burdens to the Lord, He will carry them for us. The burdens are then removed from our heart and mind because we have chosen to trust the Lord to carry them for us.

Unfortunately, this is hard to do. It’s hard to trust the Lord with the little details of our life. It’s hard to totally release those anxieties from our heart and mind. But it’s what God has told us to do. We must make the choice to trust him.

Trusting the Lord is not a feeling, it’s a decision. The more we choose to trust the Lord, the easier it will become. Trusting in the Lord frees us from the burden of our fears and allows us to flourish.

So trust in the Lord instead of worrying about the future.

Trust in the Lord instead of worrying about your upcoming test.

Trust in the Lord instead of wondering “who am I going to marry?”

Trust in the Lord instead of following your own plans and desires.

A young woman who trusts in the Lord will flourish.

4. Find Joy in the Strength of the Lord

…for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10

You and I can not produce true joy and strength on our own. We often try, but we simply cannot do it. The strength of the Lord is what gives us true joy. When we choose to lean on His strength for each day, for our tough week, and the long month, He fills us with joy when we realize His strength sustains us!

So the next time you wake up dreading to face the day, turn to Lord for His strength. Pray for His strength and pray for joy.

He can give you strength as you study.

He can give you strength as you go to work.

He can give you strength as you face a fearful task.

He can give you strength to endure the unkindness of other people.

He can give you strength to obey His Word.

And best of all… His strength can be your source of Joy as well!

A young woman who finds joy in the strength of the Lord will flourish in her day-to-day life.

5. Meditate on the Word of God

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth fruit in his season, his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall proper.” Psalm 1:2-3

This is one of the hardest steps for me, because I have a very busy mind and imagination. I am constantly thinking about the things I need to accomplish and other things that are happening in my life. But, if you and I want to flourish spiritually, we must have God’s Word in our hearts and minds. We must be thinking and meditating on the truths of God’s Word.

→ The next time you have your daily devotions, jot down a Bible verse on a sticky note or 3×5 card. Put it on your mirror, on the fridge or in your purse. Throughout the day, read over the verse, think about the truths it contains, and work on memorizing it.

A young woman who is saturating her heart and life in the Word of God will, without a doubt begin to flourish spiritually. Whatever she does will prosper.

6. Attend Church on a Regular Basis

Those that be planted in the house of the LORD, shall flourish in the courts of our God.” Psalm 92:13

Another way to flourish spiritually, is to “plant” ourselves in a place where we will hear the Word of God being taught. A solid, local church will help you grow and flourish spiritually. At a Bible-believing church you will be taught the Word of God, you will be sharpened and surrounded by other believers, and the things that you learn will help you flourish spiritually.

Many people make excused for not attending church – some say they can learn better at home on their own, others don’t think it’s all the important. But where else will you be surrounded by believers on a
