Psalm 86:11 Teach me Your way, O Lord, that I will walk in Your truth;bind my heart to fear Your name.
In this Psalm, David asked God to “teach him his way so that he may be able to walk in God’s truth and to direct his heart to reverence and submission to God alone”.
God has a lot to say about which path we should take in this life. There is only two paths and each of us are on one or the other by choice.
Let’s look at the different paths in life we are told to take and not to take and where each one leads. Both paths are listed in the old and the new Testaments. Let’s listen.
Old Testament:
Proverbs 4:14-17 Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not go in the way of evil men. 15 Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and pass on.16 For they do not sleep unless they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away unless they cause some to fall. 17 For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.
New Testament:
Matthew 7:13-14 Enter at the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who are going through it,14 because small is the gate and narrow is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
We are given a choice as to which path God prefers for us to take and which path we choose to take.
David’s prayer and his desire is to take the path that God desires for all of us. The path that leads to righteousness and life everlasting with Him.
David is being honest with himself and with God in admitting that he was unable to clearly hear from God and that his heart was disconnected from God and that he wanted to reconnect with God so that he may be able to worship, fellowship and commune with God with his whole heart in spirit and in truth.
Because of our sin nature, we have been disconnected from God and we are in need of being reconnected back to Him through faith in Christ Jesus and His Word that is written in His bible.
Whatever it is that is hindering you from a personal relationship with God on today, do as David did in asking God through prayer to remove everything that is hindering you from having a personal relationship with Him. Pray and ask God for forgiveness of your sins and ask God to unite your heart with His through the power of His Word and His Holy Spirit.
When we have truly given up the fight against God, He will teach us His way, He will help us walk in His way by with the leading of the Holy Spirit’s guidance and He will put the desire in our hearts to reverence, worship and serve Him with our whole heart in spirit and in truth.
Let our daily prayer to God the Father be that He keep our hearts united with His so that we may do that which is pleasing and acceptable in His sight.
Is it your desire to be taught of God and walk in His truth? If so, cry out to God in prayer and He will do just that for you.
God bless you all.
