“Then He spoke a parable to them, that Man always ought to pray and not lose heart.” Luke 18:1 (NKJV)
The Parable of the Persistent Widow
Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’
“For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”
And The Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when The Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the Earth?” Luke 18:1-8
You are Known by The Creator
When a baby penguin is born, the mother stays and guards the baby while the father goes outto the sea to hunt for food. Penguins stay in large groups called colonies made up of hundreds of thousands of penguins that look alike. So when the father comes back, he is faced with finding his wife and his baby penguin in this large noisy colony! How does he do it?
He listens to the unique voice of his wife and baby penguin and follows it. He follows it until he finds them and feeds them. If the wife or the baby penguin stayed quiet, they would never get their food or see the father again.
There are many noises in the world from billions of people crying out like the colonies of penguins, but God only listens to the voice of prayer from His children. Never stop praying so your voice is always heard, and you will not lose heart.
Thank You, Holy Spirit for helping me to pray. As I pray today, I know The Lord has heard me and has answered my prayers in Jesus’ name, Amen.
