Joseph interpreted dreams – his gift, yours?

Not to go too widely; ALL is Known by and to God.

Following up on his prior statement (Proverbs 15:10), Solomon explains how God’s infinite knowledge includes understanding death, eternity, and the consequences of sin. Sheol is the word for the unseen world, used in the Old Testament to refer to death or the grave. In other words, the Lord sees everything and everyone in the realm of the dead.

God also sees Abaddon and everything in it. Abaddon, meaning “destruction,” corresponds to what the New Testament sometimes calls “the abyss:” the dwelling place of evil spirits or departed souls (Romans 10:7; Revelation 9:1–2). Luke 8:31 reports that the demons that Jesus cast out of a man in the country of the Gerasenes begged Jesus not to send them into the abyss. Revelation 9:1 and 11 refer to the abyss as “the bottomless pit,” and names the king of demons as Abaddon.

Surely, if Sheol and Abaddon are visible to God, He can see the hearts of human beings (Hebrews 4:13)! This openness of the heart relates to Jesus’ knowledge of the human heart. John 2:25 says Jesus “needed no one to bear witness about Man, for He Himself knew what was in Man.”

In brief, an introduction to this share is that Joseph, the son of Jacob, who was renamed Israel for the future (our prest day was Written, in fact His-Story has been written! The book of Revelation revealed to John describes the end of Earth!) With this in mind, it is so very easy to understand that the immediate history was known. Joseph had two dreams he shared with his brothers and his father –

ALL is Known to and by God, Amen. Markedly, Joseph had two dreams a day shared them – an interpretation is that his brothers and parents would bow down to him??? What? Yeah! Prevention? Kill him! But as we shared; ALL is Known by and to God. Amazingly, God was with Joseph! He was sold as a slave by the Midianites to Potiphar, one of Pharaoh’s officials. We are tested!

Psalm 66:10, ESV For You, O God, have tested us; You have tried us as silver is tried.

Psalm 66:12, ESV You let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance. Amen.

God ordains tests for us, not for his sake, but for ours. He ordains tests today just as He did in the Old Testament with the testing of His people, and in the New Testament with the testing of the disciples.

Joseph in prison most likely had forgotten about his dream, yet God is always working out all things together for good in the lives of those who Love Him and are called according to His purpose.

Genesis 41:9-15 ERV

Then the wine servant remembered Joseph and said to Pharaoh, “I remember something that happened to me. You were angry with the baker and me, and you put us in prison. Then one night he and I had a dream. Each dream had a different meaning. There was a young Hebrew man in prison with us. He was a servant of the commander of the guards. We told him our dreams, and he explained them to us. He told us the meaning of each dream, and what he said came true. He said I would be free and have my old job back, and it happened. He also said the baker would die, and it happened!” So Pharaoh called Joseph from the prison. The guards quickly got Joseph out of prison. Joseph shaved, put on some clean clothes, and went to see Pharaoh. Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I had a dream, and no one can explain it for me. I heard that you can explain dreams when someone tells you about them.”

As shared, Joseph gave all the glory to God and was told the dreams and received from God the interpretation of the dreams. He was promoted and placed in charge of the silos and grain collection in the 7 years of plenty so that in the years of drought, the people of the land would have to eat.

To God be the glory!!! As we mentioned, what are you blessed with? Pray it upon you.

And we pray:

I ask The Lord to give me a heart of faith to trust The Spirit and The Spirit’s work in my life, I ask for a heart that desires the gifts of The Spirit for the “common good,” Men. And I ask to be open to the gifts of The Spirit in others. I ask for jealousy of others’ gifts to be quieted in me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
