A lump of clay cannot fashion itself into a fine vase. The potter spins the wheel, and the potter’s hands shape the clay. When the clay resists, it cracks, crumbles, and falls. It is only when the potter is in control that the clay can realize the beauty, strength, and purpose that the potter has envisioned from the start.
And we pray:
Father, have Your way with my life, Amen. You are my Maker and Guide, and I submit my entire life and existence to Your skilled hands. Shape me according to Your design for me so that I may stand strong in the firing furnace and emerge revealing Your craftsmanship as You prepare me to do Your will. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying: “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.” Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was making something on the wheel. Yet the vessel that he made of clay was spoiled in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
Then The Word of The Lord came to me, saying: O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter? says The Lord. As the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel. Jeremiah 18:1-10
God is the Potter and we are the clay that’s in His hands.
God want to make and mold us into beautiful vessels that He can use in His Kingdom. This can not happen without our cooperation in surrendering our will to His will for our lives.
If the clay is lumpy and marred, God is willing to put us back together again.
Tired of running? The mind is tired and need renewal? Overtaken by fear, anxiety and uncertainty? Deliverance needed? The Potter want to put you back together again!
It’s time to go into your secret closet and have a talk with the Potter. He is willing and able to put you back together again.
Clay in the “Potters” hands! That’s what we are!
God bless.
