The company that we keep can greatly impact our joy and peace. We could have the greatest comforts and luxuries, but if we’re surrounded by evil and mistreatment, we’d still be miserable. By contrast, menial work and poverty cannot rob us of our joy when we are in the presence of The Lord. Just being near the door of His dwelling place is better than being in luxury apart from Him.
And we pray:
Lord, I long to be near to You. Sometimes the comforts of this life lead me to wicked places. Help me to seek You first and experience the joy of Your presence no matter what life brings. The riches of life cannot satisfy the way You do, so thank You for leading me to find peace and satisfaction in You alone. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
