What IS comfort?

What strategies do you use to increase comfort in your daily life?

In the Bible, the primary idea in the word comfort is “to come alongside to give aid in time of need.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says, “God is our merciful Father and The Source of ALL comfort. God comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.

There are so many distressing things occupying the headlines these days, it can be hard to wrap your head around them. Finances, war, weather…Key! Where am I headed? Yes! We can seemingly have/possess success. Then? I will ask though: What is success? Key is this life we live is so VERY limited! Think on this: We’re Adam and Eve real? Think really hard! It brings so very many things into focus! Where are they at this present ‘Time’? Yeah, yeah, yeah where are Cain and Abel? It goes ceaselessly on! Moses, Elijah, the disciples, Paul??? The followers of Christ who over the years for their belief who have been put to death?

Be totally at peace:

The people who lived in Bible times were no strangers to atrocity. But many were also well acquainted with the character of God—a loving, protecting Father quick to console His people. He comforted them then and comforts us now.

Take a few moments to soak in these passages of Scripture and let them sustain you in the days ahead.

“If I say, ‘Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,’ even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.”
—Psalm 139:11-12

“Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth; break forth, O mountains, into singing! For the Lord has comforted his people and will have compassion on his afflicted.”
—Isaiah 49:13

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
—Matthew 5:4

“Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.”
—Psalm 55:22

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
—Romans 8:37-39

Verses that has given me questions and hope:

The Bible says in Isaiah 48:10 – “Behold, I have refined you, but not with silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction”. Our Almighty God has not dropped the pen that He is using to write yours and my story and so keep the faith and walk with the Holy Spirit for better understanding of your purpose. My story is being written by God, Written to His glory! God is The Master Storyteller.

He’s writing your story and it’s a part of His bigger, grander, eternal Story. But we’re still in the middle. We haven’t gotten to the happy ending of our lives here on Earth yet, and it can be hard to trust God in the thick of our struggles.
