When we are bitter, angry, discontented, slanderous, gossiping, and hateful, we grieve The Holy Spirit within us, if so be that He is within us. When we sin in any form, we grieve God’s Holy Spirit. For He is, after all, the “holy” Spirit, and all unholiness offends Him. His desire is to lead us in the paths of holiness and to impart to us all holiness of soul.
And we pray:
Take from us, Lord, all anger, bitterness, malice, and discontentment. We surrender it to You and turn from it by Your grace. Let us not grieve You Holy Spirit but let us submit to Your Spirit’s leading, as He leads us into deeper holiness of heart and life. Amen.
