Have you ever wondered why some people who are drunks, drug addicts, prostitutes, thieves and murderers when they’re converted seem to be filled with such a special zeal for God? It is because they didn’t come from a country club. They didn’t come from some religious denomination or life where everyone pretends to be moral, upstanding and deserving of God’s love. They came out of the sewer, and when they heard the Gospel, their hearts exploded!
Repentant drunks, drug addicts, prostitutes, thieves, and murderers can find a way to Heaven through Jesus Christ. But, for the self-righteous they need to be told they will not enter through the eye of that needle with one shred of self-righteousness on their back. It is through Christ alone!
