There are two powerful weapons in our Christian arsenal that we can share about today on this first Sunday of the Year 2018.
They are…communing with God and sharing the holy act of taking communion or the Eucharist with Him. Both strengthen our relationship and draw us closer to Him.
In many branches of Zion, the first Sunday of each month is the day we partake in Holy Communion or Eucharist which is a translation of the Greek word, Eucharisto which means “to give thanks at a meal” or a “love feast” or “Agape meal”. (*Note: other churches engage in the Eucharist on other Sundays, some the last Sunday or the 2nd or 3rd, regardless once a month is a time to participate in this sacred service.)
Let’s look at it for a moment. Read 1 Corinthians 10:16, 1 Cor. 11:24, 26, Matthew 26:28 and John 6:56
Just what is the Eucharist or Holy Communion?
The origins of the Eucharist begin when Jesus and His disciples participated in what would be His Last Supper, or Agape Feast with them. During this meal He gave them bread and instructed them to eat it because it represented His holy body. He then gave them drink or wine and told them to drink it because it represented the Covenant of His blood. These instruments of food to the true believer signify our covenant with Him and our communion with Christ in His death. The bread and wine draw in our minds a visual image of His body being battered and abused and dripping with the blood, signified by the wine, of His blood sacrifice in order for us to be reconciled back unto Our Father in Heaven.
Very powerful and potent is the act of taking communion or the Eucharist, which is why we are warned if we are not saved and a member of Christ’s body of believers, if we come to the table with hatred or malice in our hearts, discontentment, resentment or have unresolved issues with others, we are not to partake in this act or we risk damnation unto our soul.

Let me repeat this for many miss this part.
The Eucharist or Holy Communion is not to be taken lightly! If you have not confessed your sins to God, accepted and proclaimed Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior over your life, and asked His Holy Spirit to dwell within you do not partake in this sacred meal. If you are saved and have jealousy, envy, hatred or malice in our hearts, discontentment, resentment or have unresolved issues with others, if you have ill feelings about someone, lurid thoughts, or wickedness in your heart do not to partake as you risk damnation unto your very soul.
For God will not be mocked! He knows the real you! He knows your every thought. He hears your every word. He observes your every deed. He knows the anger, malice, hatred and other attributes of Satan that dwell or surround you. You cannot come to The Table of the Sinless One who gave His life for your eternal salvation and eat of His body and drink of His blood with unclean hearts, minds, words, thoughts or deeds.
Would you risk your salvation? I pray not.
The Bible, our book of Life’s Instructions, admonishes us to go to your brother or sister, husband or wife, friend or foe, or maybe it is someone at work, or your neighbor or someone that you may not approve of in your child’s life, whomever you have strife with you must MAKE IT RIGHT!!!
More importantly, you must do this BEFORE you next take communion. You must Forgive and Seek Forgiveness. It is Biblical. You must go to that person, forgive them AND seek their forgiveness. If they are in The Body, that will be a mutual experience.
“Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup” (1 Cor. 11:28).
“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:8-9
“But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined so that we may not be condemned along with the world.” 1 Corinthians 11:32
Make it right with God first, then those with whom you have strife or ill feelings. God is faithful and just to forgive you and cleanse you with His grace so that you can remain in communion with Him. If the person you harbor ill against will not speak to you, take an elder or a saved person with you to help settle your differences.
The next weapon is Communing with God.
Your relationship with God is prefaced on your daily communing or talking to Him! If your hands, heart or mind is harboring anger, malice, bitterness or hatred, you are blocking your own prayers, your lifeline to Him because He cannot hear you when you are filled with demonic rage or spirits that are not pure and of Him. Do you not see the parallels? The correlation to your walk?
My sisters and brothers, your salvation and relationship with Our Father are at risk if you don’t and then continue to harbor those emotions. Just look at what happened to Lucifer now known as Satan (the devil) who was God’s hand-picked praise and worship leader in Heaven but who allowed jealousy, envy, hatred and anger to overtake him leading to his being kicked out of Heaven to dwell in this wretched place.
Don’t follow his example. Wouldn’t you rather have a clean heart and peace in your spirit my brethren?
Of this, I am sure!
Stay in His Will and live under His Authority! Amen
Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice let us not dishonor it or take it for granted at anytime and especially not at the Eucharist/ Holy Communion table. Amen 🙏🏾
