Do you know what kept the Israelites roaming in the desert for 40 years? The answer is unbelief. It is hard to believe they would struggle with unbelief after seeing God work in such mighty ways to deliver them from Egypt, yet I find their unbelief to be relatable.
How many times have I seen the Lord work and move in mighty ways in my own life, but when faced with trouble, I struggle to believe He will breakthrough for me again.
Can you relate also? We can quickly forget what a powerful, mighty God we serve and how faithful He is to keep His promises.
Mark 9:14-29
The story taking place in Mark 9:14-29 is about a father who comes to Jesus wanting Jesus to cast out an unpure spirit from his son.
“Jesus asked to see the son and when the spirit saw Jesus, immediately it convulsed the boy, and he fell on the ground and rolled about, foaming at the mouth. And Jesus asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. And it has often cast him into fire and into water, to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!” Mark 9:20-24
This is a prayer that could benefit each and every one of us. The ability to believe for the supernatural comes from the Lord and is something we all need to ask Him to help us with.
When you find yourself struggling with unbelief in any area of your life, stop and pray this powerful prayer, “I believe; help my unbelief!”
God will be faithful to help you believe and overcome any unbelief you may be struggling with.
All Things Are Possible
I love the statement Jesus makes in Mark 9:23, “And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.”
What a powerful truth, “All things are possible for the one who believes”.
The Powerful Prayer in Mark 9:24
Have you prayed this powerful prayer before? “I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24)
Let’s pray:
God, we believe all things are possible for You. Please help us with any unbelief that remains in our hearts. Help us to know that You are always working all things together for our good and that we can trust You with anything we may be facing. You are always for us and never against us. May we continue to grow in our trust and faith that all things are possible for the one who believes. Amen
