And Jesus to you…is???

Key interpretations of Luke 2:34 include:

  • Fall and Rising: Jesus’ coming would serve as a turning point, causing a division among the people of Israel. Those who humbly accepted him as the Messiah would “rise” to salvation, while those who proudly rejected him would “fall” into judgment.
  • A Sign Spoken Against: Jesus would be a controversial figure, a “sign” from God that would face intense opposition, contradiction, and hostility throughout his ministry and beyond. This foreshadowed the rejection he would experience from many religious leaders and the wider public.
  • Foreshadowing Mary’s Sorrow: The prophecy sets the stage for the next verse (Luke 2:35), where Simeon tells Mary, “Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also”. This predicts the deep emotional pain and sorrow Mary would experience in witnessing her son’s rejection and eventual crucifixion.

This passage highlights that Jesus’ mission, while bringing salvation to many, would also reveal the inner thoughts and intentions of people’s hearts, forcing a decisive response for or against him. Centuries before His birth through Old Testament prophecies, detailing His miraculous birth (Isaiah 7:14), His identity as the Messiah (Isaiah 9:6-7, Micah 5:2), His mission (Isaiah 11, 42, 53), and His suffering, which believers see fulfilled precisely in Jesus’ life and sacrifice, establishing His divine plan from “ancient days”.

Key Prophecies & Fulfillment

  • Virgin Birth (Isaiah 7:14): “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel” (God with us), fulfilled by Jesus’ birth to Mary.
  • Birthplace (Micah 5:2): Foretold the Messiah would come from Bethlehem-Ephrathah, the city of David.
  • Messianic Titles (Isaiah 9:6): Described Him as “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace,” with the government on His shoulders.
  • Suffering Servant (Isaiah 53): Detailed a Messiah who would suffer, be pierced, and atone for sins, points seen in Jesus’ crucifixion.
  • Attributes: Prophecies also spoke of a branch from Jesse (David’s lineage), one who would judge with righteousness, and heal the sick.

Biblical Context

  • Old Testament: Prophets like Isaiah (centuries before) and Micah (around 700 years before) described the coming Messiah.
  • New Testament: The Gospels present Jesus as the fulfillment of these ancient promises, showing how His life, death, and resurrection aligned with Scripture.

These prophecies are seen by believers as evidence of a divine, preordained plan for Jesus, demonstrating God’s faithfulness and His intentions for humanity.

THE TRUMPET OF LIFE!

Who is Jesus to you?

Everyone has a destiny. Jesus’ destiny was foretold eons before He was born. In the bible quote above: He’s A sign but would be opposed; He would (and still does) cause some to rise and some to fall. Those who will rise because of Jesus are the believers who follow the footsteps of Christ – holiness and righteousness.

It is great to celebrate Christ as our Lord and Savior every day! Jesus’ heart-cry is that we be saved and sealed by His blood!

Known/reading/hearing this, what role does Jesus play in your life?Who

Practically, JESUS has enemies more than friends but ironically, many of the ANTICHRISTS still celebrate HIS BIRTH ignorantly. Are such ones RAPTURE-READY?

The truth? Our CHOICE of belief and LIFESTYLES determined our portion at His SECOND COMING… so, celebrate HIS BIRTH soberly and reflect on your place in HIS ETERNAL KINGDOM.

Shalom!🙏🔥
