📍Who or What is your REFERENCE POINT??? Is it GOD? The ‘PEOPLE’ or yourSELF?

In the Bible, the ultimate reference point for life, truth, and direction is God Himself and Jesus Christ. This divine reference point is accessed through the Word of God (Scripture), which acts as a fixed point of navigation for decisions, morality, and understanding, rather than relying on shifting emotions or self-centered, worldly viewpoints.

Key aspects of the biblical reference point include:

  • Jesus Christ: He is the central, objective, and ultimate reference point, often described as The truth.
  • The Word of God: Scripture serves as the “true north” in life’s wilderness, guiding decisions and providing stability.
  • God’s Sovereignty & Character: God is the foundational, unchanging, and sufficient reference point for existence, as established by the phrase “In the beginning, God”.
  • The Holy Spirit: He guides individuals and helps them discern the Word of God.

Using God as the reference point ensures that life, decisions, and identity are based on absolute, eternal truth rather than, or in contrast to, humanly-determined, often fleeting, standards.

THE VOICE OF TRUTH.

Dead to sin is quite ‘familiar’; that so many of us takes it casually; they repackaged or rebranded worldliness as sophistication. So critical! And against the will of God!

“Repackaged or rebranded worldliness” refers to the adoption of secular values, behaviors, and cultural trends by religious or traditional institutions, often disguised under the guise of relevance, modernity, or “rebranding”. This concept suggests that rather than influencing culture, these institutions have allowed worldly perspectives—such as greed, materialism, or the pursuit of status—to infiltrate their core, essentially baptizing secular behaviors to make them acceptable within a religious context.

Key Aspects of Repackaged Worldliness

  • Modernizing Faith: The attempt to make religious practices more palatable to modern culture, sometimes resulting in a loss of core spiritual convictions.
  • Materialism as Blessing: The redefinition of spiritual success, where financial prosperity or high status is presented as a sign of divine blessing, mirroring secular consumerism.
  • Surface-Level Transformation: Focusing on outward appearances or adopting contemporary worship styles (like “rock concert” atmospheres) rather than deep, internal, and spiritual transformation.
  • “Rebranding” Christianity: Critics argue that certain movements, such as the Alpha Course, have “repackaged” Christianity into a global brand, potentially diluting its counter-cultural message to appeal to a broader, secular audience.
  • Alternative Perspectives: Others argue that this is not a sin, but rather a necessary adaptation to stay relevant in a secular world, or that the term “worldliness” is sometimes misused to criticize any form of modernization.

Examples in Context

  • Church Practices: When churches adopt worldly entertainment techniques, or when “gossip and slander” become accepted in social circles, it is seen as a sign of worldly infiltration.
  • Rebranding in Commerce: In a literal branding example, Higg Co rebranded as “Worldly,” a move associated with sustainability tools, showcasing a shift in corporate language.
  • Technological/Cultural Trends: Silicon Valley’s pursuit of AI, described as “religion, repackaged”.

Is it so simple to not do what is TRENDING and belonging like others in this age of social media where relevance is measured by the number of followers? How easy is it to love the unlovable? Here’s the clue to the answers:

Jesus’ focus was to please His Father and never the Jewish customs and Paul toed his steps, he served God and humanity without fear of anyone, lack, or persecution… what’s your fear?

The truth? We can only belong to one at a time whether God, the devil or the world and each is a choice with a price and prize… So, choose right!

Shalom!🙏🔥
