We are reminded that TRUE service is a spiritual gift exemplified by Jesus and bestowed on certain Christians as their fruit of The Spirit. However we ALL a duty to serve others as a part of what The Bible denotes as “our reasonable service.”
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”—emRomans 12:1–2
As Christians we have a responsibility to serve , to give back, to share, to spread The Gospel in Word, action and in Love. Ministering to those in need, sharing God’s Word, helping the less fortunate, attending to the poor and infirmed, the weak in spirit, the lost. Just as The Word of God in flesh, Jesus, came so that we would have an abundant life through the knowledge of God and The Word of God, we, who are the saved and adopted of the Lord Jesus, must demonstrate our thankfulness of His Gift, through witnessing, sharing of The Word, being an ambassador for Christ, helping others and giving back to the church our time and talents.
As we enter Holy Week, search your heart for ways you could have been a servant but instead missed or were too busy to perform your reasonable service to God. Ask God to forgive you, to renew a right mind in you, to guide and open up your heart to opportunities to put self aside and God’s work first. All of us have a purpose, a mission, a reason to be here. Within that ‘reason/purpose ‘ lies your calling, your passion, your opportunity to spread your wings and SERVE!!! If you don’t yet know your purpose, serve until, through prayer and fasting, God reveals it to you! Working, in this case serving God in some way each day will lead you to your destiny and develop in you a servant’s heart to do God’s work here on earth. It is humbling, it is awesome to serve The Lord and beyond fulfilling. Before we celebrate Jesus’ Resurrection, commit yourself to service in some area or facet of your life. It is, after all, “our reasonable gift” unto The Lord!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🤲🏽🙌🏽👐🏽🙏🏽
