They are being tested by many troubles, and they are very poor. But they are also filled with abundant joy, which has overflowed in rich generosity.
–2 Corinthians 8:2
GOD is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
He is our very present help in times of trouble. Are we in ‘trouble’ right now?
“And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
Sometimes the needs in our lives seem to mount up high. Maybe you’re waiting, or have been praying, for help, for a breakthrough. Maybe you feel like it’s been slow in coming, or that you can’t see a way out of your current situation. Maybe the needs seem to far outweigh the reality you’re living in. You’ve lost hope, feel alone in the struggle, and the weight of stress seems too hard to keep shouldering.
Are we praying? Asking Jesus to meet us at our points of need.
Whatever the need – physical, spiritual, financial, emotional, relational – His Truth reminds us that He’s got “this thing,” whatever it is, that concerns you.
He is able.
To provide what you need.
– “And my God will meet (supply, provide for, accomplish, complete)
– all your needs (necessities, tasks)
– according to his glorious (bright, majestic, splendor)
– riches (wealth, abundance) in Christ Jesus.”
Our God who created the entire world and designed you and I with such purpose and intent can provide, will provide, out of His richness, fullness, wealth and treasure, for every single need we have. He gives favor. He lines up our pathways to be in the right place at the right time. He miraculously accomplishes so many things for us every day that we may not even be aware of. And He will bend over backwards just to give to you out of His riches. Whether we realize it or not.
Because He loves us.
We will never out give the richness of God for us. Because His provision is really not based on us. It’s based on His character, and He is Jehovah-Jireh, the God who provides.
Resting there today. Right smack in the middle of His abundance.
Hope you are too.
Be filled with Grace, Amen.
We thank You that no situation is too far out of Your control to provide. For You are Jehovah-Jireh, The God Who provides. We thank You Father that You own it all, and hold everything in Your hands.
We thank You that You know our needs before we even ask, before we even come to You. You are aware of all that concerns us, and You have a plan for all. As we turn to You, all things work together for our good, we ask and recieve when we ask in faith. You hold the provision, You have the solution. You alone can move mountains to make a way for Your children. We ask for Your answer, in Your timing, in Your plan, to be given for every need that weighs our hearts down. Forgive us for doubting You, for worrying, and for trying so hard to work everything out on our own. Help us to trust You more, help us in our unbelief. We choose to recognize and to believe that You are Able to accomplish far more, to do far greater, than we even thought possible.
We thank You in advance for Your miracles, for paving out pathways, for Your provision for those who Love You. Thank You for the abundance of blessing and goodness You have already stored up. We trust You this day, and every day for all periods of our existence, Amen. We are so grateful for Your Power and Joy that fills our lives. Thank You for teaching us to be content in all circumstances, we Love You Lord, we are leaning on You, we pray in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
I meditate on scripture day and night; it is amazing how it all points to one amazing fact – God’s Story! His Story! God never changes, that is fact. We change: our minds, beliefs, relationships, our spirit at times is like shifting sand… we are surrounded by change.
God is not human, that He should lie, not a human being, that He should change His mind.
Does He speak and then not act?
Does He promise and not fulfill?
Jesus Christ is The same yesterday and today and forever.
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from The Father of The Heavenly lights, Who does not change like shifting shadows.
In meditating on God’s Word and His-Story, we are touched byvGod’s ability and willingness to heal; about GOD’s history of healing and desire to heal; to touch us where it hurts. In trouble, we may do all that we can but we are still in trouble.
This is the kind of trouble that you can’t reason away, buy your way out of, or call your doctor/family/colleagues/banker… to fix, because, in this case, we seem to have come nearly to the end of the “rope” situation/life/science can offer us. We could get angry, we could get bitter, we could fall into despair, we could blame GOD.
Instead, we run to Him as our only hope in this trouble. We are drowning but just as the waters covers our all ‘ways’ we realize that He is the living water around us and we breathe Him in.
But then do we raise our voices or our hands in supplication? When and if we do… down rains peace and joy and triumph even in suffering.
You see, with all my heart and life, I am convinced that I serve the Living and Victorious One, The One who overcame sin and death (including all sickness). So just as overwhelming uncertainty crashes down, in comes peace and assurance that “He’s got the whole world in His hands, He’s got the whole world in His hands, He’s got the whole world in His hands…He’s got my situation in His hands.” A very present help. He has us engraved on His palms. He has not forgotten our crisis for a moment and He is going to work in this situation mightily and everyone watching will witness a miracle. I believe it.
I Love the verse that says “VERY present help”. He’s not just saying, ‘I’m here to help” but God is saying in a whisper, “I’M HERE TO HELP!!!!” Open your Spiritual ears and listen! God is also offering a covering or refuge for the duration of the onslaught and His strength throughout. While it is true that we are in deep trouble and are suffering/hurting, what is just as true is that Jesus is a “very present help”, right here, right now.
When I think about that truth, I am no longer bothered about “if and when and how” because i know WHO and WHERE; Jesus here, very ready to help.
