When Saul persecuted the Church of Christ, he persecuted Christ, for Christ is in such intimate union with His people that they are His body, Jesus is The Head. – The Firstborn! Hallelujah!!! “…Jesus Christ The faithful Witness, The Firstborn of the dead, and The Ruler of kings on Earth. (Revelation 1:4)
Saul had fought against his conscience in so doing. “Kick against the pricks” refers to thorns or spikes that cattle would ram their legs into if they kicked at the farmer behind them holding the plow. Saul falls captive here to the Lordship of Christ and begins to experience his salvation.
And we pray: Lord, precious in Your sight is the death of Your saints. And yet, You allow persecution against Your people whom You Love – all over the world. The persecutors sin and violate their own consciences, but You use persecution to spread the faith as powerful testimonies for You emerge in its midst. We pray for the persecuted Church and yet praise You for what You are doing through even that. LORD Heavenly Father, Your Will be done here on Earth as it is in Heaven, we pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
