Here Solomon tells us the same thing Paul teaches in Romans 3:23, “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Every man is born unjust and naturally sins and does not do what is truly good in the sight of God. Man’s purpose in life is to fulfill his duty to “fear God and keep His commandments” (Ecclesiastes 12:13), but this he does not naturally do.
And we pray:
O God, the whole world was full of utter darkness until the glorious light of Your holy Gospel shone forth. Your Son Jesus Christ is The light of the nations and The glory of Your people. There is none that does good, no not one; until Your MIGHTY power to save makes them new creatures. Let us not be surprised at the state of our world, given the fallen state of Man, but let us be willing channels of Gospel’s light to those in darkness, Amen.
