Let’s break it down!
- A feeling of expectation and desire (“Take delight in The LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4) for a certain thing to happen. Example of useage: He prayed through the experience the hope that things would work out ‘right’. (Paul’s words in his epistle to the Romans are among the most well-known and most quoted in the Bible: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who Love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28) Are you ‘called’? Similar: Aspiration, desire, wish, expectation, ambition, aim, plan, dream, daydream, pipe dream, longing, yearning, craving, hankering.
- Want something to happen or be the case. Similar:expect, anticipate. look for, wait for, be hopeful of. pin one’s hopes on, want, wish for, dream of, hope against hope for. Opposite:Despair of.
In The Word: “Hope” is commonly used to mean a wish : its strength is the strength of the person’s desire. But in the Bible hope is the confident expectation of what God has promised and its strength is in His faithfulness.
Faith and hope are intricately intertwined.
Let me toe this all together. NOW is NOW! And then, what next?
To be specific: what happens after you pass away?
This gets deep and quickly too! Hope and faith are entwined so tightly in this; there is no distinction! We live by and in faith…
So now faith, hope, and Love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is Love. 1 Corinthians 13:13
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” Isaiah 43:2
For we live by faith, not by sight! Has anyone ever seen God? We have been touched by The AWESOMENESS of God’s PRESENCE!!!
It blows my mind! Existence, the seen! What is unseen? The “seen” cannot be fathomed!
How vast is the universe?
About 93 billion light-yearsThe proper distance—the distance as would be measured at a specific time, including the present—between Earth and the edge of the observable universe is 46 billion light-years (14 billion parsecs), making the diameter of the observable universe about 93 billion light-years (28 billion parsecs).
Again, this is mind boggling! The SEEN can only be fathomed, calculated, estimated! Yet, this was Created by The Unseen. We can dive into physics, but it does not start to touch on the unseen.
“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” … To allow the eternal to give us peace requires a measure of effort. It is easy to allow the temporary – the day in and day out – to consume all of our energy and effort.
I wait for The Lord, my soul waits, and in His Word I hope. Psalm 130:5
My soul longs for Your salvation; I hope in Your Word. Psalm 119:81
For the needy shall not always be forgotten, and the hope of the poor shall not perish forever. Psalm 9:18
