It was clear to those who saw Jesus’ miracles, including this one where He calmed the sea and wind by His mere command, that He was much more than just an ordinary man. But they could see He had flesh and bones and appeared as a man before their eyes. He was “the God-man,” fully human yet fully divine. Even those who did not know this, however, could see there was something very different about this Man.

And we pray:
By Your Authority, Lord, You commanded the wind and the waves, and they obeyed You. You can also still the storm and tumult in our spirits, for You are Lord of the spiritual as well as of the natural world. The disciples feared for their lives during the storm, but the boat could not sink while You permitted it not. Neither can our souls sink and perish if You allow it not, and we have Your promise that none of Your sheep will perish. Guide me, fill me, teach me Lord I pray, Amen.
