Freedom! Ever been chained down against your will?

This question runs deep! Trapped, we ‘feel‘ free. Trapped by what we may ask. Ever experience true, unaltered joy? Where are you from? Where are you headed? Having shared on this ad lib, I ask again: Now you are here on Earth, after???

I will state that there are experiences here on Earth that belie the common/current wavelength of ‘thought’. To transcend the “normal” means just what? Transcendence comes from the Latin prefix trans-, meaning “beyond,” and the word scandare, meaning “to climb.” When you achieve transcendence, you have gone beyond ordinary limitations. The word is often used to describe a spiritual or religious state, or a condition of moving beyond physical needs and realities.

The definition of transcendent is extraordinary or beyond human experience. Talking to God is an example of a transcendent experience. Transcendental describes anything that has to do with the spiritual, non-physical world. You could describe the time you spend in the woods hiking as a physical and a transcendental experience. When something is transcendental, it’s beyond ordinary, everyday experience. Spiritual transcendence refers to a perceived experience of the sacred that affects one’s self-perception, feelings, goals, and ability to transcend one’s difficulties.

Paul declares that the Lord is a Spirit. He is talking about the Holy Spirit, one of the three members of the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit. In addition to being Christ, the Lord is also the Spirit. Paul has described in the previous verses the one and only way by which the veil of separation between human understanding and God’s glory is removed. It happens when a person “turns to the Lord” by trusting in Christ’s death in their place for the forgiveness of their sin. Sin is what holds the veil in place, and forgiveness of sin is what removes the veil.

The power to remove that veil and open human minds to God’s glory comes through the Holy Spirit. Paul adds that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom from the veil that keeps people from seeing God’s glory. Through faith in Christ and the power of the Spirit, the veil is removed and God’s glory is revealed in the person of Jesus Christ. That freedom from spiritual blindness or hardened minds is the difference between life and death.
