What Is Love? What The Bible Says About Love, According To Scripture

According to the Bible it means that in essence, in His being, God is Love. He is Love personified, it is not simply that His actions are Loving but His very nature. Divine aseity means that God is absolutely independent and self-existent, self-sufficient. His existence does not depend on anything outside Himself.

True Love is difficult to define, but from a Christian standpoint, love is best understood through scripture. In fact, one of the most sought-after themes in the Bible is the definition of Love.

What is the definition of Love in the Bible?

Also called “agape,” or “agapi” in Hebrew and Greek, what the Bible says about love has a lot to do with the emotion of unconditional partiality, which is core to Christianity.

Within Christianity, agape is considered to be the Love originating from God or Christ for huMankind. The biblical view of Love is that it comes from God (i.e., God is Love).

God’s relentless, loyal Love arrives in Jesus, and His affection for us drives Him to give us the ultimate act of loyal Love in His life, death, and resurrection. Give thanks to The Lord, for He is good; His khesed (Chesed (Hebrew: חֶסֶד, also Romanized ḥesed) is a Hebrew word that means kindness or love between people, specifically of the devotional piety of people towards God as well as of love or mercy of God towards humanity.) endures forever.

Biblical Love is all-consuming, empowering, and lives in each of us. Our heart is the symbol of the Love that resides in us, and God is the symbol of the Love that reflects down on Earth.

God shows His Love for us by not only forgiving us of our sins, but by going even further and bringing us into His family. He has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints. (Colossians 1:12) This inheritance includes salvation, strength, hope, peace, comfort, providence, fellowship and so much more!

And we pray:

Hallelujah Father!!! Your Essence surrounds, engulfs, centers us. You Created a semblance of Your Presence here on Earth, a drop in the pool of existence. In each of us is a spirit Created in Your Image. Complete me Father, Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. ‘Time’ was Created by Your Essence. Here on Earth it is ‘measured’ by its rotation on its axis and around the Sun. A thousand years is as a ‘day’ to you. Father, my goal is to be in Your Presence for always. Hallelujah! for Your Word. Grant me a hunger for Your Scipture and bless me with the desires of my heart as I live Your will. Fill me Father, in my life – Your will be done I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
