After asking if hardship can separate us from the love of Christ, Paul says that nothing can separate us. In fact, we conquer those things: trouble, hardship, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger, and sword (Ro 8:35). We conquer because Christ first conquered death on the cross.
This also shows the plan of the forces of darkness to separate us. For those who allow the works of darkness to separate them from the love of God, it must be said that they are not regenerate. For if we are truly saved, then we will persevere to the very end. If separation from the love of God means loss of salvation, this is impossible. The Holy Spirit is a seal on our faith and a deposit on our future glory (Eph 1:13). If anyone departs from the Church, they show that it is evident that they never were truly of the Church, never truly saved (1 Jn 2:19).
Another way to look at this is from the perspective of the perception of God’s Love. God Loves us, and we know that by faith. When we are in trouble and trials, we can lose our perspective, and our faith can weaken at the level of our feelings. We can get disheartened, and on some level, forget what is true. Jesus promised that we would have trouble, but that He has overcome the world (Jn 16:33), and in that, we can and should take heart. We must start with faith. No matter what we are facing, we cannot be separated from The Love, let alone The will of God. He Loves us and has proven it infinitely in the sacrifice of His Son – Jesus.
