Be aware in spirit…

The Lord calls us to be hospitable to our neighbors and to welcome guests. And sometimes we must have the grace to accept the hospitality of others. But we must be mindful that we do not abuse our neighbor’s hospitality or take advantage of his kindness. To overstay another’s hospitality is to forget that we have been shown grace, by both our neighbor and by God. And when we lose sight of grace, pride takes over and sows seeds of resentment.

And we pray:

Lord, thank You for working through the kindness of those around me. I am reminded of Your grace when others are gracious toward me. Guard my mind against the sin of pride so that I may respect my neighbor’s space and not abuse his kindness. Instill in me a thankful heart, so that I do not leave my neighbor bitter toward me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
