What is your favorite hobby or pastime?
Once upon a time, I would have said cooking, practicing Medicine, teaching, baking… these hobbies/pastimes’s come and go. Key 🔑? They bring you ‘joy.’ You don’t do them out of boredom, but it ignites a sense of fulfillment/joy/completion.
We must check our motivations and the product of what we pursue. Do our hobbies glorify God or ourselves? Are they a gift from God that we receive with thanksgiving? Or are we using them as an escape to avoid life and God?
We might look at the flip side of the coin – competition; does this truly bring joy/fulfillment? Winning does/being successful!
If/when we read books, we should realize that a process went into their creation! I share:
Philippians 4:13 I can do ALL things through God Who strengthens me.
Psalm 37:34 “Delight yourself in The Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”
Proverbs 16:3 Commit your works to The Lord, And your plans will be established.
Frankly, I think those references say it all! No matter what you do, attempt to do all to the glory of God. Then, you shall find true joy.
For me, writing has always been a joy/an escape. Now, I do it because it helps me grow and sharing by God’s AWESOME grace will aid others in discovering what is placed in/on my heart.

“Holy Spirit, I ask you to guide me through my day today. My heart is open to your will, and I wish to walk your path for me. Take me where you will have me go. Amen.”
Prayer for strength and guidance
“Heavenly Father, I thank you for everything you give me.
When things are dark, I seek your guiding light, and it draws me away from sin.
Thank you for the gift of your wisdom. Thank you for shaping my path, and thank you for granting me the strength to live your truth.
As is said in Psalms 25:4–5, “Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are my God my savior, and my hope is in you all day long.”
Give me strength, and let me live by those words.
Amen.”
Prayer for protection and guidance
“Lord, please look after me and grant my prayers for strength.
Every step I take, the enemy tempts me.
Every day, I see sins and temptations around me. I try to resist and live in your word — but I frequently stumble in uncertain times.
Grant me protection from the ills of the world and guide me to safety.
Give me security so that I may walk the right path.
You’re my shepherd. Lord, guide me.
Amen.”
Prayer for guidance and direction
“O Lord,
Today, I’ve reflected on your words in Isaiah 51:11.
Please Lord, water me like a garden. Lay your guiding hands on me and guide me where you will have me go.
You’ve given us everything here on earth — including the life of your son, Jesus Christ. I can never repay you for the gifts you’ve given me.
Let me now follow your will and live out your vision.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
