Demonstrate your salvation.

“Work out” means “live out”—not working for salvation, but showing the works of salvation. God has a plan for each of our lives as He had for Jesus. We must live out that plan. It is an entirely personal matter.

In Philippians 1 Paul expresses gratitude for the fellowship of the Philippian Saints. He teaches that the opposition he had experienced in serving The Lord, including his imprisonment, had furthered the gospel cause. He encourages Church members to stand fast in unity in defending the faith. Paul loves the Philippians and praises them for their obedience in his absence. Even though they have been saved by accepting Christ as their Lord and Savior, Paul directs them to continue living in the way God has established. Obeying God demonstrates our loyalty and faith in His instruction to stay away from sin. We accept Christ as our Lord and Savior and continue to live as an example of our salvation.

And we pray:

Dear God, we are loyal and have chosen to trust and obey Your Word. Please guide us as we strive to strengthen our faith and live as an example to others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
