Your life without a computer: what does it look like?

Being one of the GenX’s, a quinquagenarian in the mid 2020’s; I keenly remember the IBM with the green screen! In University, there was a ‘computer center.’ Files were carried around with/or on floppy disks!

I was in W. Africa when PC’s first started replacing typewriter’s. In fact, my sisters roommate had a portable typewriter with a floppy disk/memory drive with limited storage space!

In W. Africa, to submit a paper in University, there were ‘stenographers’; who would charge per page to type your assignments for a cost!

We live in a world today that your phone serves as a computer used to! You not only can work on them, but use them for entertainment!

Writing papers was done by hand! If you found/had access to a computer, you were blessed!

A life without computers would be very different from our current lives, as computers are an integral part of our daily routines. Here are some ways life would be different without computers:

However, some say that a life without computers could have some benefits. For example, you might find yourself using a notepad to take notes, which could help improve your memory. You might also find yourself enjoying the experience of creating meaning from your experiences, which is something that computers can’t do.

We must thank God for everything we are blessed with!

According to the Bible, we should be thankful to God for everything we are blessed with because it is God’s will:

1 Thessalonians 5:18: “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”

Colossians 3:17: “Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him”

Psalm 147:7: “Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving”

Here are some reasons why we should be thankful to God:

God wants it: God wants to be thanked for His providence and sovereignty.

God is our only hope: In the storms of life, God is our only hope.

Thankfulness grows: Thankfulness grows as we cling to God.

We can be thankful for who God is: We can be thankful for who God is, even in the midst of tragedy.

God sustains us: God sustains us and gives us strength to endure.

Thankfulness keeps us in right relationship with God: Giving thanks to God keeps our hearts in right relationship with Him.
