You Love God; you are Loved – Jesus came for YOU.

Every action that you will ever take is known! A difficult concept to fathom/understand!

Right quick: David (A Man of God – Defined in the Word of God as a Man after the heart of God!) Was tempted, and sinned!

Yes, David was a Man after God’s heart, but he was also a sinner:
Divine election
The phrase “a Man after God’s heart” in 1 Samuel 13:14 is a technical term that refers to divine election. This means that David’s election to kingship was not due to his own merits.

God’s instrument
David was kept in office despite committing sins because God chose him to be an instrument in advancing the redemptive story.

Obedience
To be “after God’s heart”, you must repent and obey what God has told you to do.

Character
Our character is shaped by knowing that God chooses us despite our shortcomings.

David was a strong but unassuming shepherd who became God’s choice to replace Saul as king of Israel. He was humble yet self-possessed, and he readily dismissed human opinion.

Verse 1 below is 🔑! The LORD is my Shepherd, I lack nothing.

Profound! We will return to focus on this! Vs 3, God refreshes my soul –

“God refreshes my soul” means that God brings renewal and revitalization to the deepest part of your being, providing comfort, peace, and strength when you are feeling weary or spiritually depleted, essentially restoring your spirit and inner energy through his presence and guidance; this phrase is often associated with Psalm 23:3 where it says “He restores my soul.”.

Key points about this phrase:

  • Spiritual renewal: “Refreshing the soul” refers to a spiritual rejuvenation, not just a physical one, meaning it involves a sense of inner peace and connection with God.
  • Shepherds metaphor: In Psalm 23, God is depicted as a shepherd who leads his sheep to “green pastures” and “still waters,” representing a place of rest and nourishment for the soul.
  • Personal experience: When someone says “God refreshes my soul,” they are expressing a personal experience of feeling renewed and uplifted through their faith and relationship with God.

“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4

God’s constant presence and protection, even in the most difficult and uncertain moments of life. The darkest valleys may bring fear and doubt, but God’s guiding hand offers reassurance, comfort, and peace. His rod and staff symbolize both His protection and direction, keeping us safe and on the right path.

No matter what challenges you face, take heart in knowing that you are never alone. God walks with you, providing strength and courage. Lean on His promises and trust in His unfailing love. Let His presence be your source of comfort and hope, knowing that He will lead you through every valley and into His light. God bless you abundantly.
