“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits …” Psalm 103:2 (ESV)

God adopted humans into His family through Jesus Christ. This is described as “adoption as sons” in Ephesians 1:5.

How did God adopt humans?
God chose to adopt humans before the world existed.

God takes on the role of a parent, providing for, protecting, and guiding humans.

God’s adoption of humans is a metaphor based on Roman law, which allowed a man to adopt an heir from outside his family.

**What does it mean to be adopted by God?

It means that humans are part of God’s family, chosen by Him before the foundation of the Earth.

– It means that humans are joint heirs with Jesus Christ.
– It means that humans can call God “Abba, Father” and serve Him without fear or obligation.
– It means that humans can relate to God as a Loving and good Father.

Benefits of being adopted by God
– Humans receive eternal life.
– Humans are Loved unconditionally by God.
– Humans are taught to call out to God as their “Abba, Father”.
– Humans can enjoy serving God without fear or obligation.

THE GOSPEL TRUTH!

Have you ever been overwhelmed by any situation – the situation could have been/be  good or bad; joy, confusion, fear, troubles/worry/fear, sorrow, pain… an endless list! At times when you are overwhelmed, are you short of words to express yourself to God? Yes it happens, and God understands. We are in it together! God is a Loving, caring Father we have been adopted!

When feeling overwhelmed, turn to these Bible verses and prayers for comfort and guidance:

“From the end of the Earth I will cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the Rock that is higher than I” (Psalm 61:2) and

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6)

A Pharisee once hosted JESUS and a woman, a SINNER went there with OIL; she wept on JESUS’ FEET, wiped the TEARS with her HAIR and anointed His feet with the oil. No one said anything, but they were surprised that He didn’t stop or send her away.

JESUS HEARD the SORROWFUL HEART of the WOMAN and the confusion in the attendees, He addressed all the issues accordingly.

What’s your heart saying to God? He hears it all and will respond as due!
