Texts: Jh 15:1-8,2 Ki 19: 30, Lk 8:8, Ps 92:12-14.
Beloved, it is the will of God for us to bear much fruit in every area of our lives . We are to bear fruit of the spirit. We are to bear the fruit of souls. We are to bear fruit financially. No area of our lives should be barren.
The Bible teaches about bearing fruit in our ‘old age’. This means that longevity is key if we are to bear much fruit. So today, we’ll be looking at the enemies of longevity (long life) a promise in the Word.
Sin: Righteousness preserves life (Prov 12:28). Sin cuts short people’s lives(Rm 6:23). This is the reason why you must make sure you are born again and flee all forms of sin. All unrighteousness is sin and the wages of sin is death(1 Jh 5:17, Rm 6:23). Avoid sexual sins at all costs. It brings all manner of strange and demonic afflliction into people’s lives.

Lack of control over your emotions: an individual that cannot control his or her emotions is like a city broken down and without walls (Prov 25:28).

A city without walls is open to human and demonic invasion . Excessive anger outburst, bitterness, unforgiveness , envy and jealousy; open people up to systemic diseases that can cut short their lives (Matt 18:30-35, Prov 16:32, Ecc 7:9).

Uncontrolled appetite: when people can eat anything, drink anything and indulge in harmful habits and lifestyle, they open themselves up to acute and chronic health challenges that can cut them short. May you not be cut short. Avoid all manners of substance abuse, alcoholism, sexual promiscuity, gluttony and drunkenness (Prov 23:29-32, Prov 23:20-21, Prov23:2, 2 Ki 4:40).

Refusal to cast our cares on the Lord: when we carry all our cares and loads in our hearts (Matt6: 25). This leads to anxiety, depression and psychosomatic problems. Why worry when you can pray. Some allow their challenges to weigh them down to the point of suicide . Beloved God cares for you. Allow him to carry you and your load (1 Pet 5:7, Ps 55:16-18, Phil 4:6-7, Ps 42:5).

Dwelling on negative and evil thoughts: as you think in your heart so you are (Pro 23:7). You don’t like the quality of your life today, change your thoughts (Matt 12:34-35, Mk7:20-23). Note sickness is a child of the thought. If you can control your thoughts, you can order the direction of your life (2 Cor 10:3-5).
