Don’t get it mixed up!

FACT
  • Unmerited blessing: God’s favor is not something people earn through good works or actions. It’s a free gift, often referred to as grace.
  • Divine approval and acceptance: God’s favor implies God’s delight and satisfaction with a person or situation.
  • Specific purpose or calling: Receiving God’s favor can indicate a divine plan or purpose for an individual’s life.
  • God’s active presence: When someone walks in God’s favor, God is actively involved in their life, blessing their efforts and aligning circumstances.
  • Miraculous events and alignment: God’s favor can be demonstrated through miraculous events or events that seem to fall into place seemingly without effort.
  • Protection and deliverance: God’s favor can involve protection from harm or deliverance from difficult situations.
  • Grace as a key component: God’s grace, which is often associated with favor, is seen as a gift that enables believers to fulfill their purpose.

We need to know when The Holy Spirit leads and/or guides us to receive The favor of God.

The Holy Spirit guides individuals towards God’s favor by leading them to righteousness, helping them understand God’s will, and providing inner peace and joy. This guidance is often felt as a deep inner conviction, a prompt, or a suggestion that aligns with God’s Character and principles.

Elaboration:

  • Guidance through Righteousness: The Holy Spirit works to transform believers into the image of Jesus, leading them to live a life of holiness and righteousness. This includes overcoming sin, resisting temptation, and cultivating virtues like love, joy, peace, and patience.
  • Understanding God’s Will: The Holy Spirit illuminates the scriptures and helps believers understand God’s plan and purpose for their lives. This understanding can lead to making wise decisions, pursuing God’s will, and receiving blessings from Him.
  • Inner Peace and Joy: When the Holy Spirit is guiding, believers often experience a deep sense of peace and joy, even amidst challenging circumstances. This peace is not just an absence of turmoil, but a confident assurance that God is with them and working for their good.
  • Promptings and Convictions: The Holy Spirit may prompt believers to take specific actions, share their faith, or make certain choices that align with God’s will. These promptings can be felt as a strong urge or conviction, and it’s important to listen to and obey them.
  • Identifying the Holy Spirit’s Voice: Recognizing the Holy Spirit’s voice requires attentiveness to inner promptings, seeking God’s Word for guidance, and spending time in prayer and worship. It also involves distinguishing the Spirit’s voice from personal desires, fears, or other influences.
  • Yielding to the Spirit: To receive God’s favor, believers must willingly yield to the Holy Spirit’s guidance and obey His commands. This means allowing the Spirit to lead them into all truth and trust in His wisdom and timing.
  • Seeking God’s Favor: While God’s favor is a gift, it is often received through obedience, humility, and a desire to please Him. This includes walking in righteousness, loving others, and seeking His guidance in all areas of life.

A prayer seeking God’s favor often involves acknowledging God’s goodness, expressing gratitude for blessings, and requesting specific areas of need, such as protection, guidance, or success. It can also be a time for acknowledging one’s own limitations and seeking God’s grace and favor in overcoming them.

Here’s a sample prayer seeking God’s favor:

“Heavenly Father, I come before You with a heart full of gratitude for Your unending love and grace. I thank You for the countless blessings in my life and for Your unwavering presence. I humbly ask for Your divine favor to rest upon me, my family, and all those I hold dear.

Lord, I ask for Your guidance and protection as I navigate the challenges of this life. Open doors of opportunity that are aligned with Your will and close doors that are not meant for me. May Your favor surround me like a shield, protecting me from harm and evil.

Help me to be a blessing to others and to reflect Your love and kindness in all that I do. Give me the wisdom and strength to overcome obstacles and to walk in Your favor, experiencing Your blessings abundantly.

I pray for Your favor in [mention specific areas of need, e.g., my career, my relationships, my health]. I trust in Your perfect plan and seek Your guidance in all things.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen”.
