Wow! The ‘book’ that has created in me a new heart is The Word of God.

Jesus Christ, and God’s spoken messages through prophets and in the gospel. It’s a way of describing God’s communication, revelation, and will for humanity.
Elaboration:
- The Bible (Scripture): The collection of books considered to be divinely inspired and God’s written word. It’s a direct line of communication from God, revealing his character, laws, and plan for salvation.
- Jesus Christ: Jesus is also called the “Word of God” or “Logos” in the Gospel of John, signifying that he is the embodiment of God’s message and the means through which God reveals himself. He is not just a messenger but the very essence of God’s word.
- Spoken Words and Messages: The phrase “Word of God” can also refer to the actual spoken words of God, such as those spoken through prophets or during the preaching of the gospel. It’s a way of describing God’s commands, teachings, promises, and prophetic pronouncements.
- God’s Authority and Truth: The Bible, as the Word of God, is considered to be authoritative and truthful, providing a source of saving knowledge and guidance for believers.
- Different Forms of the Word: Some theologians, like Karl Barth, have proposed a “threefold Word of God” which includes the revealed word, the written word (the Bible), and the proclaimed word (preaching and teaching).
- Purpose of the Word: The Word of God reveals God’s love and plan for humanity, leading people to salvation through Jesus Christ. It’s a way of understanding God’s will and living a life that pleases him.

The Bible
When these Words entered my life I no longer had the need for things to impact me. I had been jolted, impinged, and slammed on enough. What makes the Bible different from all other literature is an innate, sentient ability to differentiate each persons needs. At a certain point I needed actual help, not the faithless preaching of the pious. Gentle counsels taught me about life and how I should conduct myself. “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul (Ps. 19:7)…” That’s what it did for me; my soul was converted. Not only did the Bible know how to reach me, because it is actually living, but it answered all my questions. In doing so, it proved it’s own relevance, undoing the static dogma of the Catholic church, which had done me much harm by desensitizing me to religion.
Based on various interpretations and theological viewpoints, here are some books in the Bible considered highly influential and powerful:
New Testament:
- Romans: Considered by many as the most influential book of Christian doctrine due to its comprehensive explanation of salvation by faith in Christ Jesus. It details topics like God’s wrath, the role of law, and salvation by grace, and covers Christian living principles.
- Gospel of John: Known for its intimate portrayal of Jesus’s relationship with believers, often seen as powerful for new believers. It emphasizes the divine nature of Jesus and the believer’s union with him.
- Acts: This book highlights the spreading of the Gospel and the early Christian church, emphasizing the transformative power of the Holy Spirit. It shows the life and actions of the early apostles and disciples as they proclaimed the Good News.
Old Testament:
- Psalms: Often referred to as the prayer and worship book of the Bible, the Psalms contain a wide range of human emotions and expressions, offering comfort, guidance, and hope.
- Genesis: This book lays the foundation for understanding God’s creation, the fall of humanity, the promise of redemption, and the establishment of the covenant with Abraham. It’s vital for understanding the origins of the world and humanity from a Biblical perspective.
- Isaiah: Filled with prophecies, this book offers profound insights into God’s character and promises for the future, including messianic prophecies.
- Minor Prophets: While short, these books deliver impactful prophetic messages and are considered powerful for their spiritual and poetic depth.
In addition:
- Hebrews: This book is highly influential for connecting the Old Testament and New Testament covenants, showing how Jesus fulfills the promises of the Old Testament.
- Revelation: The final book of the Bible, it speaks to the ultimate victory of God and the culmination of history.
Note: The perceived “power” of a book can be subjective and vary based on individual experiences and interpretations. However, the books listed above are widely acknowledged for their significant impact on Christian theology, practice, and personal faith.
